'Old fashioned noticeboard, but online'
Remember the noticeboard at the back wall of our classroom when we were high school students? Now they also catch the wind of the internet. Padlet now is offering us one online platform for the modern classroom to reuse those noticeboards.
In this week, I'm going to introduce you one online space that you, your students and your colleagues can post lots of things on it (e.g. texts, images, links, videos, music). This online space is called Padlet. Now let's explore this online 'noticeboard' together! I will show you this website from two aspects: How to make? How to use in class?
1. How to make one padlet?
To use padlet, at first you need to register one account in this website. It's free for the basic version. Before creating a new padlet, they offer you many different kinds of padlet for you to choose (see in Pic1). For clear instruction, I choose the classical 'wall' version.

After successfully creating the padlet, you will need several steps to modify your padlet in details. Like in Picture 2, you can choose how to share and let your students join in creating this padlet. Now, we've got one blank wall (see in Pic 3)and next step should be adding content into it. By clicking the pink button in the bottom right corner, we can post new content into it.

After clicking the small pink button, one small white box will appear (see in Pic 4). In that small box, you can type in the text you want to share, upload links, cite websites by google and upload pictures, videos and music. Also, you can move the position and change the title of your little box.
2. How to use padlet in class?
For what to post in Padlet, I will use my padlet for my students to explain. In picture 5, you can see lots of boxes. These are all content that my students put in about one topic I set for them. The most common way to use padlet is leading to the topic of the class. For example, you can give students one topic to discuss and post some relevant content in padlet before class. Then when you are giving lecturing, the discussion about the content in padlet can be a perfect lead-in for you to start the class. I used padlet to let students write down what they want to do in their 20s and then discuss at the beginning of my 'life in 20s' content-based English class. The link of their tablet is https://padlet.com/elliothzr/sd4yj1q6cs8e.

Comments: Useful and innovative
I do believe that my experience of using padlet is very inspiring for my teaching. I noticed that how much students can be motivated to discuss their own content with others. There are more using of padlet are waiting for exploration. Hope you can try this website in your teaching.
This is the Third Episode for Simon's ICT blog.
